hello january 2015

last month was a crazy, whirlwind of sewing, sewing, sewing and uh, more sewing, lots of quality time with my sewing mo-chine. so, this month is gonna be filled with lots of computer time.....

+ save the dates: it's 2015, no more excuses. last year was the year of everyone else's wedding, this year is the year of our wedding. we should probably give people an official heads up update: these are 75% done, the snowstorm last week delayed some of the supplies needed to finish, but envelopes are addressed and everything else is ready to go

+ update bloggie: big plans and big ideas last month to do this, but stitching, christmas, and crazy-busy work days dropped this one to the bottom of the list. the original plan was a little ambitious {as usual}, so i'm working on a scaled down version that should be much more do-able update: after tinkering and toying with the test blog {and still attempting to do far too much at one time}, i gave in and just updated a&n with a basic new look. i can still add the other bells and whistles later ;)

+ run 40 miles: this is another goal that was put on the back burner last month. after a long day of driving around boston in cold and yucky weather, the last thing i want to do is go back out into the cold and dark. although, this MMM post has got me inspired to get out and enjoy it update: welp, i ended up with only 59% of my goal finished. boo. mostly single digit temps and monster snowstorms are a lame excuse.

hello december 2014

last month was a struggle with the cold and darkness, slowly but surely i'm adjusting {no other options, right?}. i got lots of stitching and running done, and this month looks about the same:

> small biz christmas: oh target, you've got me hook/line/sinker with so many lovely things, but big box stores, are the problem.  so kickin it up a notch from last years goal, i'm shooting for 75% of my gifts to be from small businesses and/or handmade {by me or others}.update: success! between wandering into small shops around town, finding fun things on etsy, lots of stitching, and stocking stuffers from Trader Joe's, only a few books were ordered from Amazon. yay!

> blog revamp: new year, new fresh and shiny spaces. that's the dream, right? well not much can change in our rental house, so i'm thinking it's time for a blog renovation instead. also, not nearly as expensive or messy :) update: i've got a {secret} pinterest board of inspiration, but so far, nothing ready to go live.

> finish rennie garb: i always forget how complicated these outfits are. mostly it is the pattern adjusting or the coordinating fabric finding that slows it down, but now that everything is in house and cut out, it's time to pull it all together. update: still working on them, and i'm oh so close to being done. it's always the finishing bits and buttons that trip me up.

> run 50 miles: ahhhhh! that's all i need to get my {adjusted} goal of  300 miles this year. i'll be super pissed if i miss it by a handful of miles. super. pissed. update: eff, eff, eff. i was going strong the first few weeks, but then a week of heavy nor'easter rain, a wicked cold, then focusing on christmas presents.....and that's where i'm going to end the excuses.

hello november 2014

this fall has been quite the whirlwind, september was busy, and poor october was jumped right over. so november, let's get some sht done:

> run 40 miles: last month was a bit of a stretch, running-wise, so this month i'm going to work on maintaining at 40 miles, not to mention the inevitable sweatpants-on-the-couch-under-a-blanket struggle when the temps drop. update: 45 miles completed, efff yea!

> wake up early: no matter what time i get up in the morning, by 9:30 pm i'm wiped. it could be 4:30 or 6:30, but as the evening wears on, i put my cranky butt to bed. i don't mind getting up early, i actually feel better when i can get some stuff done before my day starts. update: this was surprisingly easy, instead of flipping and flopping around all morning, i'd get up, have some coffee, do some reading/writing, a nice slow start to the morning

> get my biz-ness paperwork in order: bow ties are awesome and pocket squares are cool, but receipts and paperwork are not. so before the pile of papers grows larger, it needs to be tamed. oh, and spreadsheets are my jam, so no fear there. #nojudgie update: nope, all i had on my mind this month was running and stitching.

> haha, third time's the charm. that is all. update: i'm over the hump on this one, i didn't get them completely finished before the month's end, but all of the major bits are done.  check out my progress here

9.08.2014

hello september 2014

even though its 90* and 80% humidity in boston right now, can feel that cozy fall nesting instinct looming. so it's time to get cleaning and organizing kicked back into high gear. you can check last month's goals here, and this month:

> one got super dirty *camping* up at the lake, and the other some how ended up back on our bed. yeah, in the sweaty summer. without the duvet cover. gross. so it's time to haul them up the giant hill to the laundromat. update: there's nothing like people staying the night and wanting something to cover up with, done!

> out of all of the weddings this year, i'm in one of them, yay!  the lovely brides sent out a few example links from a super reasonably priced website, and only stipulated that the dress be a certain color and fabric. but otherwise, sleeves, straps, and lengths were our choice. time to order before i start stressing. updater: after so much back and forth about the 4 size difference between my top and bottom, i sucked it up and ordered on the 29th.

> with this super busy summer, we never did make it to the woods. so my excuse of not dealing with the camping stuff until we're done with it this season is no longer valid. even if i had dealt with it early on, it wouldn't have affected our using it anyways. but i can't handle seeing it jammed in the corner of the kitchen any longer. time to get it down to the creepy basement. update: nope, still occupying a corner of the kitchen.

>  with 2 long distance, full weekend weddings this month, just maintaining last months mileage will be a challenge. i'm also having to contend with the sun rising later, it still being hot and humid after work, and the sun setting earlier....#runninginthedarkisscary update: done!

8.08.2014

hello august 2014

holy sh*t it's august already. yikes! where did july {and the summer} go? i took some time to slow down and relax last month, and have some fun without thinking about what i should/could be doing. boy do some of my goals show that {whoops}, but i feel a million times better. so without further ado....

> this is a leftover from last month, boo.  i've been wandering the fabric stores and not finding any inspiration {lame excuse, i know}. but these aren't things i can force production on, if i do, i'll never be satisfied with the end product. update: still no, but now that the fabric stores are full of fall and winter selections i'm much more inspired. it's hard to get mideval-heavy when all you can find is neon chiffon. true story.

> well last month i covered my 25 miles in 13 runs, which breaks down to 1.92 miles per run and 2.6 runs per week. so with 4 weeks in august, i need to run 7.5 miles a week to be successful. now that the 1st week is almost over and i'll be 4 miles behind by sunday.....longer runs are gonna be my friend once again! update: yayayyyy! done, done and done!

> hahaha, oh boy. this one has been on my unoffical to-do list for a while now. greg finished his list months ago, and his gentle nudges to do my own have started to become a lil more forceful, lol. so its time to just get it out there, it doesn't have to be a final list, but i do need to get some names on paper. update: besides the rest of this list and other daily things that needed to be done in august, this is alllll i heard from greg this month. so to be a brat, i did it on september 3rd. then i made him rework his list of first names into my super-duper spreadsheet extraordinaire! muahhhahahaa

> it's not easy, nor convenient, but riding my bike is good for my wallet and body and jeepy. update: jeepy is still out of commission, so this was easy to maintain.

7.01.2014

hello july 2014

june was the last quiet month for a while {heaven help hermit me}, with the annual 4th of july lake house extravaganza, weddingpalosa 2014 kicking off at the end of the month {aka 6 long distance weddings in 2 months, aka, that's why we opted for a 2015 wedding}, and lots of other things to get done in between, i'm gonna keep this months list pretty simple:

> soo have you checked out my etsy shop yet?!?!? right now it's looking pretty sparse {boo}, but after a recent trip to the fabric store, i've got lots of fun fabrics to work with. check this post out for more details and a special coupon {woohooo!} update: well i did get some new stuff stitched, photos of it all, a few things actually listed in the shop, and more of the preppy collection ready to go!

> we're not gonna talk about how i'm having issues with the jeepy and am stubbornly ignoring it. once again, we're gonna focus on how i only live 1.5 miles from work and i shouldn't be driving anyways.  it takes me just as long to ride my bike as it does to drive, and i get equally as sweaty walking home in the afternoon, so i might as well speed up the process. update: the jeepy's going in next week, and i've enjoyed riding my bike around town this month.

> every couple of years my mom and her hubby request a new set of renaissance faire garb, made by yours truly. this seems simple enough, and after making 3 sets you'd think i'd be more realistic with the timeline. so in all reality, i'll be super pumped if this is the only thing that actually gets done this month. update: ummm, nope, not yet, sorry :(

> i finished june with 21.3 miles, and with how busy this month is, 25 miles is gonna be super hard to do if i skip runs when i'm outta town.  so i guess i'd better pack my runnin gear {and not stay up too late drinking :/ } update: i started working on longer runs, which meant fewer runs, but i still ran around the same {small} block until i hit the last tenth of a mile i needed to finish, yay!

6.03.2014

hello june 2014

oh it never fails, the longer days and perky sunshine get me super motivated, but then reality kicks in and i've bitten off way more than i can chew. last month was semi-disappointing, boo. my brain was working way faster than my poor body could keep up. so this month there's gonna be a few do-overs:
> the first two weeks of last month i spent a half day at the library and wrote my posts for the upcoming week. it felt awesome, super-duper awesome, to have it all wrapped up and taken care of. then greg was out of town, and i figured with the house being quiet, i'd be able to just get it done at home. haha, nope. sh*t got haphazard. in the back of my head i was super stressed, and i couldn't focus and so i sat, like a lump, on the couch instead. update: so you can totally tell when this didn't happen and i went for 2 whole weeks of no posts, whoops. it did work well when actually implemented though... :/

> if we go waaayyy back to last summer, this was a pretty popular goal for me. but running in the AM and walking to work multiple times in a week was just too much. so 1.5 times a week should be do-able. update: we ended the month with 7 bike rides, woohooo!

> re-do from last month, see couch-blob above. update: i went on a bit of a caffeine fueled cleaning binge, and donated a ton of clothes and other stuff. mission accomplished.

> week 5 day 1 and its running for 5 minutes at a time kinda kicked my butt, w5d2's running for 8 minutes at a time, knocked me flat on my ass....then i just laughed at w5d3's run for 20 minutes straight. ha, no way. so i've gone back to the 8 minute segments and by the end of this week i should be able to *comfortably* {aka still be able to breath and not want to die} finish those and continue on as regularly scheduled. {fingers crossed} either way, you can follow along here. update: meh. i'm back to running 5 minutes at a time, and i've paid attention enough to realize it's my legs pooping out before my lungs. so i've added in a weekly hill run, and riding my bike to work should help make 'em stronger too.

off my butt: couch to 5k

someecards.com - I run like the wind... OK, more like a breeze right now... But, I STILL RUN!!!
via
so i joke {quite often} that if you want to run with me, be prepared to walk. a lot. which, lately, is pretty true. don't want to be a fast runner, nor a long distance runner, i just like to get outside and force some fresh {city} air into my lungs.

even though i'm getting out there pretty regularly now, the run/walk progress is pretty low and i'm not really pushing myself {mostly i'm too lazy to increase the intervals on my watch}. so, instead of using precious brain power to figure out what my run should be, i've given in to the c25k program.

to make it even easier on myself, i've downloaded an awesome app on my phone.  it does all of the math, the counting, and the buzzing all on its own. so now, all i have to do is lace up, turn on my crazy podcasts and go, wooohooo!

sunday i finished week 3 day 1, so {fingers crossed} by mid june, i should be able to cover 3 {turtle-slow} miles, non-stop. so follow along, cheer me on, start your own, do whatever you want, just get off your butt :)

5.04.2014

hello may 2014

ugh, i don't even want to talk about march's goals {i did update them though} and let's pretend april never happened, mmmmmk? so without further ado, here's how may looks:

> this month {and it should be every month too} i want to have all of my posts pre-written for the week ahead. i feel so much better when they automatically post at 5am.  if i end up working on them that day, i put it off and get myself stuck in an awful mental tug of war. technically i'm already way behind with this post, but that's ok. you've gotta start somewhere, right? update: the first two weeks worked out beautifully, then kaboom! trying to write from my couch wasn't very successful, so back to scheduled library time

> i tote my work computer to and from work every day, {and far too many other places too :/} without any protection {yikes!!}. so in keeping with my new years resolution, i'm gonna make it a safe and snug case. update: too busy pattern testing and stitching other things ;)

> i've been kickin ass with sorting through my winter clothes and donating a ton of them {a girl really should limit the number of sweatpants she owns} but i still have quite a few boxes with random books and papers {and who knows what else} in them. so it's time to sort it all out and send at least 2 boxes to the curb. update: the official box count remains the same, but as i switched out my winter/summer clothes, i sent another 2 bags packin

> i've been systematically chipping away at my my debt using the snowball method, and now it's time for the final karate chop on my smallest student loan.  it would be tough {but do-able} if it were any of the other 10 months with only 2 paychecks, but this is one of the magical 3 bi-weekly paycheck months, so no excuses! update: success!! although i was super disappointed to log into my shared student loan/credit card account and to see no trace of my loan :( all i wanted was to see a $0 balance. oh well.

> we've been keeping some of our nearest and dearest looking pretty dapper lately, so in june, keep your eyes peeled for your chance to look like a stud ;) update: coming very, very soon!!!!!

3.03.2014

hello march 2014

whoops, well hello there....apparently i needed a vacation after my vacation....too much sun and too many fruity rum drinks can kick a girls butt....anyways. i may not have been 100% on last months goals, but here's what i'm working on this month:

> i get home from work relatively early, usually 4:30 or so, then i tell myself i'm just gonna watch a little bit of tv, then work on something til greg gets home....ha, yea right! what really happens is i get sucked into the black-hole of netflix, and it's game over. so, if i just ban tv all together til dinner is done, i stand a much better chance of actually accomplishing something during the week. update: haha, nope, netflix zombie.....

> now that the days are getting a longer, my list of week day running excuses is getting shorter by the day.....3 miles a week should be totally do-able. update: soooo close, if i wasn't so stubborn, i would count the 6 miles spent wandering the city the last saturday....

> i took a calligraphy class in january, and i have all sorts of pen holders, sample letters, nibs and practice sheets, its time to actually use them. fingers crossed though, this is also where my word patience comes in..... :/ and because i can't just set myself the vague goal of *practice calligraphy,* i'm going to shoot for a minimum of 15 minutes a day. you know, like after i get home from work.... update: i don't think i even touched my calligraphy stuff this month, lame.

> oh our dining room/my sewing studio....what a disaster.  i tend to be a bit of a fabric hoarder, to put it politely. i need to decide on a minimum scrap size to keep, get rid of the rest, purge fabric in general, and organize my other bits and baubles. then, while i'm in there, i should hem my jeans.... update: not a whole lot on the fabric front, but things did get tidied, and my jeans did get hemmed.

what are your goals for this month? leave a comment!

2.03.2014

hello february 2014

all 4 goals for last month were accomplished, wooohooo! i like a nice strong start for the year. with this being the shortest month, and a week long vacation planned {yay for mexico in february!!} i wanted to keep this month's goals pretty simple:

> so there's this pair of skinny jeans i've owned for, oh, at least 3 years now....and they've all ways been too long. if i'm wearing flats, i just roll up the cuffs, and greg calls me a 1950's greaser.  these are also the only pair of pants that fit in my tall brown boots, and with my shapely calves, it's a tight squeeze with all of the extra length rolled under. oh, and i also *kinda* know how to sew ;)......i think its time to get it done. UPDATE: i'm lazy, i'll add this to march's list

> by the first week of the month i should have all of the paperwork i need to get my tax forms filled out....and i'll feel so much better knowing its done and over with. no dawdling. UPDATE: finished on the 27th, whoohoo!

> ugh, no sugar. efffff... this one is going to be sooo hard.  my gluten allergy cuts out 75% of the things my sweet tooth craves, but jelly beans and peanut butter m&m's are still pretty easy to come by.  i have a feeling that sugar plays a big part in my tummy troubles too, so we're going cold turkey {excluding all of the gf cupcakes at the bridal shower and the m&m's that got me through the plane ride last weekend :/ }. UPDATE: i'll call this one semi-successful. willpower was strong the first week of the month, and plenty of fresh fruit to keep me occupied while on vacation. but i may have eaten a few handfuls of stale marshmallows when we got back :/ and given in to some caramel cadbury eggs on the 28th, booo.

> SUPRISE! i never did send out any of my cards for january :( oops. i think i psyched myself out about writing them. lets try again this month. UPDATE: these were in the mail in time for valentines day <3

what are your goals for this month? leave a comment!

coat closet, shmoat closet...

first, if you look to the right, you'll see new buttons for all of the ways to stalk me
my social media stuff, so click and creep away! and a new pin it button on my pics!

as part of my new years resolution, this month i decided to tackle the front coat closet. the poor thing has been neglected since we moved in a year and a half ago.  here is what we started with......

i don't think it ever housed things that we actually used on a daily basis.  mostly just greg's hat collection and things to donate.

the closet isn't deep enough for hangers to hang properly, they just get squished sideways. which is annoying. so we installed some more hooks in the back, to hang the coats greg doesn't wear, but won't get rid of.....

even better are the hooks we put on the door.
the center of the closet door was too thin to hang the rack directly on it, so a leftover piece of 1x4 anchored the hooks perfectly.

scarves hang behind the coats, boots reside on the floor comfortably,

and hats and mittens go on the shelf above. along with the car wash stuff.

overall, it looks good and works well.

now to donate all of the stuff i took out.....

how are your goals going this month? leave a comment!

1.10.2014

the word: 2014

elise turned me on to alie's one little word concept, and i'm ready to jump in with my own.  this year i want to focus on:
along with patience comes:

practice: just because i can do it perfectly in my head, doesn't mean it will happen that way the first time in the real world

being present: i'm always thinking and planning ahead and that distracts me from what's happeningin the here and now

enjoying the moment: all of that thinking and planning stress me out about what i'm currently doing {or what i think i should be doing :/ }

slowing down: when i start planning and planning and planning, i'm like a run-away train with the over-planning, which just leads to unrealistic expectations and stress

ps, what word do you want to focus on this year? leave a comment!

1.08.2014

hello january

i would call last month's goals mostly a success, but after a few months of not making my off my lazy butt workout goals, i've decided to put those on the back burner for now. otherwise this month:
  • the first 2 are part of my new years resolution.....so no need to start slacking yet. UPDATE: check-mark for the coat closet being totally purged and reworked, but so far i've only done half of what i wanted to do with my sweater.  although, with my type-a/everything has to be planned/and measured/and perfect, i consider just cutting into it to have been a major accomplishment.
  • i plan on designing our wedding invites and hopefully addressing the envelopes as well, so i should probably learn how to work a calligraphy pen thingy.. UPDATE: this one was completed in the 11th hour. like the evening of january 31st, squished between the day job and a flight to north carolina for a bridal shower.
  • ugh, using the lame *stock* twitter, pintrest and instagram buttons, ugh, lame. i know my way around adobe illustrator and html well enough to make something fancier. UPDATE: wooohooo, this one was finished pretty early, AND i added an adventures&nonsense facebook page, go check it out, if you *like* it, ill <3 you forever.....
ps, what are your goals this month? leave a comment!

1.05.2014

well hello 2014!

someecards.com - My New Year's resolution is to write '2014' instead of '2013'.

first things first, let's not get ahead of ourselves...i know that it will be mid-march until i don't have to think about what year it is....i always consider this as challenge #1 of the new year {it's a good thing i don't have to write checks too often....}. so, i might as well add a few more to keep me busy for the rest of the year. {ha}

ive decided to focus on 3 large-scale things this year: one thing to be productive, one thing for me, and one thing for others{nice and vague, right?!?!?}. i've broken them down into monthly bits so i can keep track.  that will make it more of a monthly challenge, rather than a mid-year surrender {i hope :/ }.

every month i want to:

1. deep clean & organize one thing/space
i'm such a homebody, but the one thing that stresses me out is clutter. even if i'm too lazy to deal with the giant pile of junk mail, it will still drive me nuts from the corner of my eye. and when we move again, i don't want to box up and lug around stuff i don't even need or want anymore.

2. stitch something for me
i have a long list of stuff i want to stitch for myself. some practical {finally hem my jeans} and some frilly {more party dresses!} some easy {iPad case} and some a little longer {up-cycled picnic quilt}. part of this goal is to use up some of my stash. i've been hording pretty fabric for far tooooo long.

3. send fun mail
i'm not a huge fan of talking on the phone, but i do need to do a better job of keeping in touch with my lovies. so for those i don't see or talk to semi-regularly, expect 12 bits of fun this year.  feel free to reply, but don't feel obligated.  and if you want to join in, drop me a note. we all need something besides bills in our mail boxes.

i've got ideas already listed out for my cleaning & stitchin goals, and birthday cards picked out. they may change as the year goes on, but at least i've got somewhere to start.

happy new year!!!!

ps, what are your resolutions for this year? leave a comment!

the did list

i like to be productive, sometimes too super duper productive {and always over estimating what can actually be reasonably accomplished}. so i make to do lists. lots and lots of to do lists.  blog to do, cleaning to do, work to do, soo many lists. add all of the extras this time of the year, and things can get kinda crazy.  holiday cookies to make, gifts to buy, gifts to wrap, shorter days, colder days, lots and lots of running around. all of that can kick your butt and give you a mean case of the blahs.

in order to reduce being overwhelmed, i like to switch from my to do list to what i call my did list. i stop tracking what needs to be done and focus more on what actually got done. i'll even break it down into baby steps. so the regular to do of cleaning the kitchen turns into: wipe the kitchen counter {check}; wipe down the stove {check}; sweep kitchen floor {check}; mop kitchen floor {check}.

one thing i've learned, the best way to stay motivated is to feel productive. more check marks on my list makes me feel better. so even if that means fibbing to myself, i don't care. as long as it keeps me moving.

ps, what keeps you going this time of the year? leave a comment!

12.02.2013

hello december

after having my ass handed to me goal-wise last month, all of the holiday craziness, and the likelihood that ill still be a cranky, sunshine-needing blob this month, i'm gonna slow down a bit.

> i'm still not very good at this one, but i'm trying.  i need to write more. recipes and tutorials are easy for me, just writing is much harder. time to work the keyboard. update: well 9 posts worked out to be just over 2/week. that didn't make my goal, but i did write about gloves and feeling productive.

> i want to have my own handmade biz, so i feel the need to support other awesome small timers.  why bother buying from giant corporations who are only worried about their bottom line. {and that is a whole 'nother conversation....} update: over 50% of my gifts were either handmade, from a small biz, or recycled, yay!

> i already feel smothered by how messy the house has gotten while we were prepping/away for thanksgiving.  there's going to be just as much going on this month, but i might as well be productive while i'm holed up indoors.  there's nothing like feeling light and refreshed when you set big goals. update: decluttered some of the *junk* piles around the house and sorted a few boxes of stuff from when we moved in 15 months ago...

> just because it's too cold and dark to run during the week, doesn't mean i need to be so lazy. i've got plenty of cheesy workout dvds to get my blood pumpin'.  this also applies to laying around and being lazy in general.  i can write blog posts from the couch, no reason to not be productive in some way, shape, or form. update: this didn't happen, boo.

PS, what are your goals this month? share 'em in the comments!

11.01.2013

hello november!

once again, this month we have a few repeats. last month i fell short {again}.  kinda. well to make excuses rationalize it, i did establish some routines and became more consistent, but still pushin hard in the last week. oh well, i'm getting more done than ever before, and feeling pretty good too. win.  UPDATE: overall this month kicked my ass. i spent way too much time on the couch. being cranky and lazy. ugh.

>i've become so much more consistant with my running. i've switched to a tues/thurs/sat/sun routine, and moved my weekday runs to after work. and that seems to be working pretty well for me.  this month the interval has been pushed up to 1:30 run/:30 walk. its not cold/nasty/snowy out yet, so no whining about the weather. UPDATE: and i finished with.....9.4 miles, bleh. i didn't run any weekdays and took thanksgiving weekend off. i can't handle running in the dark AND cold after work. i'll have to figure something else out....

>ugh, this one has been kicking my butt for the past few months. i always come sooo close.  scheduling my runs for tues/thurs has worked pretty well, so now i think i'm gonna schedule my walks for mon/wed/fri.  once again, its not cold/nasty/snowy out yet, so no whining about the weather. UPDATE: excuses, excuses, excuses, i don't think i walked to work once. lame

> i'm still sticking with the goal of posting 3x per week, but now i want/need to start some networking.  in my wanderings of the interweb, i've come across gussy and her how to network via email really struck a chord with me. i'm sooooo introverted {which doesn't bother me}, but i need to get myself/blog/ideas out to others and actually interact. talk to people, ugh ;)  UPDATE: well i didn't end up sending out any emails, but i have been leaving comments, posting links on fb, and tweetering a whole lot. putting this lil bloggy out there

>i haven't actually designed a fun party dress in quite a while.  i've made some elaborate costuming/corset/garb stuff for my mom and her husband, but it's been quite some time {2010-ish} since i've made something fun to wear for myself. and there's a big Long Island-wedding-extravaganza coming up..... UPDATE: well this one did get done, otherwise i was going to the party nakid. after 3 different design changes and finishing it by hand the day before, it turned out pretty well.

ps, what are your goals this month?

10.17.2013

october goals-mid month update

check out the original post here.

>slightly behind with the running, mileage-wise, but i feel like i've turned a corner with the effort this week.   now that it feels easier i need to push harder, especially my *long* runs. i have also been running after work, and getting my butt out there after i'm tired and cranky is hard.  but then i feel better too, wooohooo! ended the month with 22.3 miles and only 2 missed runs, high five me!

>3 blogs/week sounds easy.  3 quality posts/week is pushing it.  i've got a lot of things on my to-do list and i'm trying not to post a bunch of fluf, aka funnies and entertainment. i've also been back dating a lot of posts like this one, booo. so either i need to get it together and post on time, or rethink my goals. update: ended up with 12 posts for this month, missed 3 posts to make my goal

>i've deleted a bunch of outtakes and gathered most of my photos into the same file. update: i got all of my photos into my picassa/google acct and deleted the crappy ones.

> now that i have my new iPhone it's easier to take more photos.  my back up phone had a terrible camera, and it was a bit of a pain using my work phone and greg's THEN getting the pics to my computer. excuses

>slightly behind but still on track for this one.  lots of meetings at work this week, so more driving than i would like.  but i'll just have to push harder. i didn't make it last month, i can't fall short two months in a row. update: only walked 7 times, ugh.

ps, how are your october goals coming?

10.02.2013

hello October!

well i may not have made as much progress last month as i would've liked, but at least i had my goals written down and staring me in the face, making me feel guilty. which, i think, helped me to get a lot more done. surprisingly i was more focused and pushed harder in the second half of the month instead of just giving up.

so this month there are a few repeats, but that's because they're still a challenge for me:

>last month i used a :30/:30 run/walk ratio, and this month i'm going to do a 1:00/:30 run/walk. the 20 miles will motivate me to get off my butt, and the increased ratio will make me work harder.

>last month 2 blogs per week was successful, so lets up it a little more. i've got my posts pretty well planned out for the month, and only a few are silly things, some are tuts and most have words ;)

>i wasn't very successful with last month's goal of backing up my computer. so this month i've changed gears and start even smaller, clean up and organize alll of my photos. baby steps.

>and then edit and organize them correctly. every week.

>i was soooo close with this last month. so we'll try it again. so far, no so good. it's October 2nd and ive driven to work twice, boooo

ps, what are your goals this month?
