how to have a romantic picnic dinner in the city....

step 1 have a terribly long and annoying week. hello monday:

step 2 decide tofu is something neither one of you want deal with on a friday night.

step 3 mix a{n accidentally super strong} "to go drink."

step 4 walk up a giant hill to your favorite carryout place, aka one that hasn't made you sick and isn't chipotle {yes, i could eat burritos for the rest of my life}.

step 5 head to the liquor store next door, grab a couple of beverages and forget to snag two extra paper bags.

step 6 wander over to the neighborhood "commons," which in your opinion has far too much concrete to be seriously considered a park.

step 7 find a spot to sit in the park, which also happens to be across from the courthouse.

step 8 wrap his tallboy {hehe} in said extra paper bag, then pour yours into your now empty sippy cup {wow, where'd my drink go? i must've been pretty thirsty....}.

step 9 open up all of the containers and chow down. start off trying to be lady-like, then realize most of your options are basically finger food {or have handles!} and forgo using real utensils.

step 10 give your fiancé sad puppy eyes when he starts to use pita bread to scoop with {hello cross-contamination....and jealousy}.

step 11 laugh at your fiancé when he admits that 3 yrs ago {to the week} he was on vacation and freaking out to his girl BFF about this new cute girl he met.

step 12 kiss, canoodle, giggle and be obnoxiously romantic and cute.

step 13 stand up to leave, and realize how much youve had to drink, oops.

step 14 then insist that ice cream will make you less wobbly for the walk home. down the giant hill.

the end.

love, love, love: iphone cases

i'm not a particularly clumsy person, but there is a reason i'm picky about my phone cases:

that case is only supposed to come apart in 2 pieces, and not have a chunk missing near the power button  :/ if used cutesie 1 piece, snap on cases, i would be a few new screen replacements in.  there's a fine line between protection and super-duper-protector case, but either way, its so much cheaper and easier to replace a broken case.  so now that i've destroyed my 2month old case, its time to find a new one...

 two piece sliders:
1. i am totally in love with wooden cases
2. a blue-ish purple version of the shimmery pink one i have
3. this Isaac Mizrahi makes me swoon

1 piece flexible:
4. i've been on a watercolor flower kick lately
5. soft and stuble
6. bold and bright

i ended up ordering a shimmery gold one, like #2. ps, don't make fun of my iphone 4s, it was half the price of a new 5s ;) but it is getting harder to find cases {booo}

well that's not what i expected to see.....

i'm pretty picky about the *fashionable* scarves i wear.  i will walk up and down the aisle, touching and touching and touching.  and touching. they can't be too heavy or bulky or itchy.

so when i stumbled upon this one, i held it up in front of me briefly, and liked everything about it.  but it wasn't until i got it home that i actually held it up and open to see the full pattern. oh boy. efff. really?!?!? i can't wear that.......ugh, seriously.

classy, i know. but, i really like the pretty colors, and the pattern when its tied. so, shhhhhh! we won't tell anyone, right?!?!??

ps, i've lost both of my gloves already....boo.

running ahead: the best running log, ever!

in january, i gave up on my monthly off my butt goals; it was disheartening to be missing it month after month.  lately i've been getting in a run once a week {or so, ish..}, and i don't want to NOT give myself credit for it either.  instead, i'm gonna amend my new years resolution.

by adding......running 500 miles this year {yikes!}. that sounds like a whole lot right now, but really breaks down to only 9.615384615384615 miles per week.  i know some weeks are going to be shorter, but as i build my mileage back up, and as the days get warmer {and longer!!}, it'll be easier to catch up.

via

there's nothing i like more than a good chart to track my progress, and for a while i tried to track it on paper.  but i'm lazy it was kind of a pain in the butt. so after neglecting it for a bit, i'm going back to running ahead to track my runniinnnn.

i've tried other running sites, but they're either too flashy or not customizable {<-- is that even a word?!?!?}. this one allows my inner number-nerd to to chart what i want, how i want.  bar graphs, number scatters, whatever. and i can track the progress on custom goals.

so i've added a button on my side bar that'll bring you to my running log.  i'm going to try and update it more than once a week, but we'll see. so follow along, cheer me on, start your own, do whatever you want, just get off your butt :)

ps, how are your resolutions going? leave a comment!

i guess you could call it a personal problem....

so ive got this problem. you may have it too. it's with gloves {and sunglasses}. it involves expensive pairs.
or i should say, the lack there of.

anytime i have a nice pair, i loose them. at times i've considered stringing them together with yarn. and threading it through my jacket. like you would a 5 year old.

the other problem i have, is i work mostly outside, with a smartphone. and i'm in and out of up to 8 different cars a day. that's a lot of places to misplace your gloves.

so i had been hemming and hawing over getting a pair of touch screen friendly gloves.  afraid that my fingers would only be warm for a few days.  because it wouldn't be long before i lost one.

then i found these at target:

mind blown.

yes my friends, those are effin $3 touch screen lovin gloves.  i should prolly go get a few more. that will guarantee i'll have the original pair all winter long.

a bike riding revolution!

i'm such a sissy when it comes to riding my bike.  i live in a super bike-able city, and i still drive my poor old jeepy around way too much. i blame having a fancy-pants customer service-oriented job for driving the 1 1/2 miles to work {lame excuses}. but with the FlyKly Smart Wheel and the Hövding Airbag for Cyclists, no one will have excuses for much longer.

ummmmm how effin awesome is that? no more sweaty-tired-grossness when you get to your destination. also, i think this may be the real-life Copenhagen Wheel from Weeds. {whoops, i guess it was a real thing before Weeds, apparently i didn't take it seriously.}

aaannnnddd no terrible helmet hair?!?! no looking like a goober? better protection? i'm in love. if i didn't have so many stupid student loans, i would totally get in on both of these.

it's Halloween time again!

Hocus Pocus is one of my allllllll time favorite movies! ever. of them all. i remember recording it off of the tv as a kid and watching it over and over. even the part where someone stepped on the remote and we started recording a hockey game for a while instead.

so here are some things you probably didn't know about The Best Halloween Movie of All Time, and why it's the best, courtesy of BuzzFeed.

ps, what's your favorite Halloween movie?

New Girl, season 3 premiere!!!

Hey girl, whatcha doin’? Hey girl, where you goin’? Who’s that girl? Who’s that girl? omg its Zooey Deschanel!!!!
have you heard her voice?
saving the day in Elf:
playing the crazy in Weeds(another fav of mine):
oh and her hair?!?!? love!!
lately i've been watching the first season on a loop, over and over again. while working on stuff. kinda. anyways, netflix tells me it has 49 episodes(lies). scrolling though shows only the first seaons 24 are available and the other 25 didn't come out until season 3 premiered. lame. i tried to catch up with the tivo, but i watched out of order, inadvertently spoiling the/my most anticipated part: things between nick and jess. ugh. i was hoping it would happen, maybe not so quickly though. oh well.

anyways, you can bet your sweet buns i'm gonna be binge watching season 2 for the rest of the week. oh yeah, did i mention she is allergic to gluten and dairy too? and plays the ukulele? greg is so lucky i met him first, because i would totally marry this girl.

p.s. what show(s) do you loop while you work?
